Oiled Wildlife Volunteers Needed - White Center, WA

We are assessing the availability of volunteers to assist with transporting oiled wildlife from a cooking oil spill in White Center, WA to the rehabilitation center in Anacortes, WA. Please fill out the form if you are interested in volunteering and a member of the Wildlife Branch will be in touch if you are needed.

The Northwest Area Contingency Plan gives preference to registered and affiliated volunteers.
We are looking for the following skill sets: Have your own vehicle in safe operating order; valid and current WA Driver’s License; able to follow directions; must be able to work a full day (driving from White Center, WA to Anacortes, WA and then back home). Birds will be in enclosures provided by the response during transport.
  • Wildlife pens for geese are large, so a van, SUV, or enclosed truck would be ideal, though not mandatory.
This will help us manage resources over the duration of the incident.
  • This will help us calculate drive times.
